V-belt - An efficient belt for power transmission

A V-belt is a one-piece, wedge-shaped transmission belt that has high flexibility and high tensile strength. It combines the advantages of both a flat belt and a poly-V belt. The V-belt, like other friction belts, is driven by friction – in this case the friction that occurs in the sides of the wedge, in contrast to, for example, a timing belt that is driven by the teeth on the belt. A V-belt guarantees a stable and efficient V-belt drive, as its shape ensures the position of the belt in the V-belt pulley.

A rubber V-belt is produced with a reinforcement of fiberglass or Kevlar, which makes it suitable for almost all types of power transmission, as it can withstand temperature conditions from -18°C to +80°C. It is also antistatic and cannot rust. For machines with high loads and long belt lengths, we recommend using a reinforced version of the V-belt. This type of V-belt ensures up to 50% increased tensile strength. Reinforced V-belt types are manufactured in durable EPDM rubber, which makes them extra durable, as they are produced with a reinforced fiberglass or Kevlar reinforcement that increases the service life and capacity of the V-belt.

We negotiate v-belts from PIX, Megadyne, Gates , Continental and Optibelt in classic and timing versions. A Cogged V-belts is extra flexible, which makes it easier to get around V-belt pulleys with small diameters, as the teeth make the V-belt more flexible. We offer classic V-belts in Z, A, B, C, D and E profiles, Cogged V-belts in ZX, AX, BX, CX profiles, narrow V-belts in SPZ, SPA, SPB, SPC profiles, timing narrow V-belts in XPZ, XPA, XPB, XPC profiles, double V-belt types in AA, BB, CC profiles, auto V-belts in AVX10, AVX11, AVX13, AVX17 profiles and accu-link V-belts in Z, A, B, C profiles. V-belts are produced in accordance with applicable ISO and DIN standards. V-belts are sold in standard sizes and can be manufactured to specific dimensions upon request.

Important knowledge about V-belts

A V-belt, also known as a V-belt, is a type of drive belt used in many industrial machines. It transfers power from one pulley to another and has a V-shape that provides smooth and efficient operation. To ensure reliable operation, choosing the right V-belt is crucial. When choosing your next V-belt, you should consider the following important factors:

1. Belt type: There are several types of V-belts, including classic V-belts, narrow V-belts and power belts. Classic V-belts, which are the most common, are used for standard purposes. Their profiles are called: Z, A, B, C, D, E, and in a timing version they are called ZX, AX, BX, CX. Narrow V-belts are a further development of classic V-belts and can be used in the same V-belt pulleys. Due to their increased height and improved design, they have a better tensile strength of up to 25%. Their profiles are: SPZ, SPA, SPB, SPC, and in the timing version they are called XPZ, XPA, XPB and XPC. Power belts, which are several V-belts joined together in the back, provide a higher tensile strength and reduce vibrations.

2. Belt width: The width of the V-belt is crucial as it affects how much power can be transmitted. A belt that is too narrow will not be able to handle the load, while a belt that is too wide will not fit on the pulley. It is important to choose a V-belt with the right width for your application.

3. Length: The length of the V-belt affects how it fits on the pulleys. A V-belt that is too short or too long will not work properly. It is therefore important to measure the distance between the pulleys and select a V-belt with the correct length.

4. Cross section: The cross-section of the V-belt refers to its profile or shape when viewed from the side. V-belts are available in the following profiles: Y, Z, A, B, C, D and E. Each profile has its own characteristics and sizes that make them suitable for different applications.

5. Tension: The tension of the V-belt is important as it affects both the fit of the pulleys and the amount of power that can be transmitted. A V-belt that is too loose will not provide proper traction, while a belt that is too tight can cause unnecessary wear on both the pulleys, bearings and the V-belt itself.

6. Material: V-belts are made from different materials, such as rubber, EPDM rubber and polyurethane ( PU ). Each material has its own special properties that make it suitable for different industries. For example, V-belts made from rubber are both durable and resistant to weather and wind, and they can withstand temperatures from -25 to +100 degrees. This makes them ideal for machines that are exposed to high temperatures, while PU V-belts are flexible and resistant to oil, making them perfect for applications that expose the V-belt to oil and chemicals.

When choosing a V-belt, it is important to consider the belt type, width, length, cross-section, tension and material. These factors play a major role in the overall performance and efficiency of the application.

Convert to V-belts - Convert length from Li to Ld & La

Our online V-belt length converter is an efficient and reliable little tool for finding the desired V-belt length. The tool allows you to convert the length of the V-belt from its inner length (Li) to its effective length (Ld) and outer length (La), so you can easily choose the right size for your machine.

Using our online tool you can enter the inner length and in a few seconds get the effective length (Ld) & outer length (La). All you have to do is select your V-belt profile and enter the inner length of your V-belt.

Once you have entered these parameters, our tool will calculate the effective length (Ld) & external length (La) of the V-belt and show you the correct result. This makes it easy and quick to find the right size V-belt for your machine, so you can get back to work.
