Timing belt with v-guide
We offer open timing belts with v-guides that center and correct the position of the timing belt during operation. Timing belts with v-guides thus make flanges on timing belt pulley redundant as the v-guide guides the timing belt in the longitudinal direction, ensuring stable and synchronous timing belt traction. V-guides are particularly suitable for timing belt traction where items are transported in from the side, as lateral impacts can occur in this context. Timing belts with v-guides are particularly used for linear guidance as well as in vertical and rotary drives.
A v-guide is mounted either by welding a v-guide into the tooth side of an existing timing belt, or by extruding the v-guide during the manufacturing process. With the extruded method, durability and strength are increased, as the v-guide and timing belt are extruded as a whole. We offer a large selection of thermoplastic polyurethane v-guides in smooth and timing versions, available in the colors white, transparent, green and blue. All v-guides in blue and white are food approved. Available versions include TK5-K6, ATK5-K6, TK10-K6, TK10-K13, ATK10-K6, ATK10-K13, HK-K13, BATK10-K6.
An open timing belt with v-guide can be assembled into an endless timing belt to your desired dimensions, which can be done mechanically or by welding the timing belt together. The timing belt can either be produced with a welded finger joint, or you can buy your own welding kit and weld the timing belt yourself. You should expect about 50% less tensile strength in a welded timing belt compared to a solid timing belt, as the reinforcement has been cut across on an open timing belt. You can also get open timing belts with v-guide, assembled mechanically, with pin joints, which make it possible to easily and quickly mount the timing belt directly on the application. Open timing belts with v-guide can be advantageously equipped with a nylon coating that is mounted on the teeth or on the back of the timing belt, which improves driving characteristics and reduces noise due to a lower friction coefficient.
