Description

V-belt XPA 2032 - 13x10 MM - PIX X'tra ® – correct profile, length and PIX X'tra® construction

V-belt XPA 2032 - 13x10 MM - PIX X'tra ® is a relevant belt type for mechanical power transmission where a flexible, Cogged V-belts with clear length data is desired. The product is listed as XPA with the goal 13x10MM and the lengths 1987 mm, Ld 2032 mm and Width 2050 mm.

XPA is a medium profile in the XP series and is a relevant belt type when the pulleys are intended for a narrow Cogged V-belts with the dimensions 13x10 MM. The practical advantage of the correct profile is that the belt should neither bottom out in the groove nor be too high. When the profile fits, the load is better distributed on the sides of the belt, and the belt drive has a better opportunity to run smoothly.

Length specifications

The three length specifications describe the belt's geometry from each measurement position. 1987 mm describes the inner length, Ld 2032 mm is the effective length, and Width 2050 mm is the outer length. The difference between them is due to the geometry of the belt and the measurement method. Therefore, belts with almost the same outer dimensions can still have different technical specifications.

When a belt is specified from an older marking, it is usually best to compare both the letter profile and length designation. A belt marked as XPA 2032 should not be confused with another profile of the same nominal length. Therefore, consider both Li, Ld and La along with the profile and dimensions.

With Ld 2032 mm, the belt is a longer variant, where alignment and uniform tension are of greater importance. The longer the center distance and the greater the belt pull, the more important it is that the belt does not work crookedly between the pulleys.

Construction and technical features of PIX X'tra®

The PIX data sheets describe the construction with a special textile/fabric layer as a cover, a cushion rubber compound around the belt's working area, polyester cord as a tensile member and an EPDM-based compression part. In practice, this means that the belt should not only be assessed on its length. The internal construction is important for strength, flexibility, heat management and stability under load.

The main technical features of the PIX series are the timing flexibility, higher heat dissipation than a classic wrapped belt and the possibility of working in compact belt drives when the rest of the drive is correctly dimensioned. The series is also specified as antistatic, oil and heat resistant and REACH and RoHS compliant. These features are particularly relevant in machines where the belt runs for many times and is not only used occasionally.

For the XPA profile, the PIX data sheet states the length range 550–5000 mm. This belt with Ld 2032 mm is in the range 550–3000 mm, where the data sheet states a length tolerance of ±6 mm and a set tolerance of 2 mm. The tolerances are relevant when replacing, especially if several belts are to run in parallel or if the center distance can only be adjusted to a limited extent.

Use for the XPA profile

If the machine has previously used a regular wrapped V-belt, a timing raw edge type may be interesting for compact drives or when greater flexibility is needed. This does not mean that all belts can be freely replaced. The safe method is to maintain the same profile family, assess the length and ensure that the pulleys are suitable for the specified belt type.

In practice, this type of belt is often used for medium-sized industrial belt drives, fans, pu , compressors and other machines where more bearing surface is desired than XPZ. However, the belt should not be selected solely based on the machine type. Two machines can use different profiles, even if they look similar from the outside. The correct check is therefore the product name, belt marking, pulley profile and the three length measurements.

Profile and pulley compatibility

XPA belongs to the same narrow profile family as SPA, but the belt has its own technical specification with a timing, raw-edge construction. The belt works with side contact in the pulley groove, and the correct groove profile is necessary for the contact surface, friction and load to be distributed correctly. Incorrect cross-section or skewed pulleys can cause overheating, noise, slippage and uneven wear.

The technical identification consists of the combination XPA, 13x10MM, Ld 2032 mm, 1987 mm, Width 2050 mm and PIX X'tra®The combination distinguishes the item from nearby V-belts with other profiles, other length standards or a different construction.

Installation and operation

A new belt should be installed in clean, dry and undamaged pulleys. Oil, old belt dust, rust or sharp edges can shorten the life. Alignment between the pulleys is also important. Even a good belt can quickly wear out if the pulleys are misaligned or if the belt is forced to work sideways.

After start-up, it is wise to listen for abnormal noise and feel for abnormal heat when it is safe to do so. Slippage, whining, vibrations or black belt dust may indicate incorrect tension, incorrect profile, worn pulleys or excessive load. The fault should be found before the machine continues to run for a long time.

During continuous operation, the belt should be evaluated for ctiming bars, heavily worn side faces, glazing, frayed edges, and signs of overheating. If the belt repeatedly needs to be retensioned, it is often an indication that either the belt, the pulleys, or the setup itself should be examined. Replacing the belt alone does not always solve the cause of the problem.

As part of the PIX X'tra® series, the belt is designed for industrial belt drives where stable friction, flexibility and length stability must work together. The specified profile angle, the three length dimensions and the timing underside describe different sides of the same construction. For the XPA 2032, this results in a belt that is technically defined by both cross-section and effective length, not just by the nominal length in the product name.

Technical questions about XPA V-belts

What does XPA 2032 mean on this belt?

XPA is the profile designation and 2032 refers to the effective length Ld in millimeters. For this item, this means that the belt is specified as an XPA profile with dimensions 13x10 MM, Li 1987 mm, Ld 2032 mm and La 2050 mm.

What do Ld, Li and La mean on this V-belt?

Ld is the effective length and is the length stated in the product name. Li is the inside length, and La is the outside length. The three measurements are used to compare belts because manufacturers and older belt markings do not always use the same length designation.

Is the length alone enough to describe the belt?

No. The length is important, but the profile is at least as important. A belt with the correct length but the wrong profile can lie incorrectly in the pulley, causing poor contact, heat, noise and a shorter life.

Why is the belt timing on the inside?

The serration makes the belt more flexible around the pulley and helps with heat dissipation. This is especially relevant for compact belt drives, smaller pulleys and operations where a stiffer wrapped belt can become unnecessarily hot.

Is PIX X'tra® a regular wrapped V-belt?

No. The PIX X'tra® in this series is a moulded raw edge cogged belt. It differs from classic wrapped belts in construction, flexibility and working surface.

When should the belt be replaced?

The belt should be replaced if there are ctiming bars, obvious side surface wear, frayed edges, glazing, squealing, vibrations or repeated retensioning. The pulleys should also be in good condition, as a new belt will wear quickly in damaged grooves.

An incorrect belt specification reduces the risk of unnecessary stops, repeated replacements and troubleshooting after installation. The right combination of profile, length and construction provides better conditions for smooth running, reasonable service life and more stable power transmission in the current belt drive.

Belt operation depends on the profile, length, tension and pulley groove matching. Worn or damaged grooves can shorten belt life, while correct alignment and a clean contact surface provide more stable power transmission.

Overall rating: V-belt XPA 2032 - 13x10 MM - PIX X'tra ® is specified with profile XPA, dimensions 13x10 MM, effective length Ld 2032 mm, inner length Li 1987 mm and outer length La 2050 mm. The belt belongs to the PIX X'tra® series and is designed as a raw-edged, Cogged V-belts for mechanical power transmission.
