Description

V-belt XPZ 807 - 10x8 MM - PIX X'tra ® with Li 770 mm, Ld 807 mm and La 820 mm

V-belt XPZ 807 - 10x8 MM - PIX X'tra ® is developed for V-shaped belt drives, where the sides of the belt work against the pulley grooves. The timing PIX X'tra® construction makes the belt flexible around the pulley, and the data given can be compared to a belt's technical specification: profile XPZ, goal 10x8MM, Ld 807mm, Li 770mm and La 820mm.

XPZ is the lightest profile in the XP series and is typically used when the machine requires a narrow, Cogged V-belts with high flexibility. It should be used in pulleys that fit XPZ and 10x8MMA belt with the same length but the wrong profile is not a safe alternative because the belt may be in the wrong groove and thus provide less contact surface.

Length specifications

When a belt is specified from an older marking, it is usually best to compare both the letter profile and length designation. A belt marked as XPZ 807 should not be confused with another profile of the same nominal length. Therefore, consider both Li, Ld and La together with the profile and dimensions.

The Ld dimension is the effective length and the length specification typically used for narrow V-belts. Li describes the inner length, while La describes the outer length. The three dimensions must be understood together with the profile, cross-section and pulley grooves, because the length designation alone does not describe the full geometry of the belt.

With Ld 807 mm, the belt is in a common working range for many machines. Here, it is typically not only the length, but also the condition of the pulleys, center distance and correct tension that determine whether the belt drive runs stably over time.

Construction and technical features of PIX X'tra®

The construction is built for power transmission through the sides of the belt. According to PIX, the series consists of a cover in a special fabric layer, a cushion matrix in a rubber compound, a polyester cord as a tensile member and an EPDM base compound in the compression zone. It is precisely this combination that distinguishes a technical industrial belt from a random standard belt that is just about the same length.

When comparing to various V-belts, PIX X'tra® is relevant because the series combines raw edge grip with timing flexibility. According to the manufacturer's data, the series can provide higher power transmission than wrapped belts, better heat dissipation and operation at higher belt speeds, provided the belt is used in a correctly constructed belt drive. This makes the series suitable for many industrial operating tasks.

For the XPZ profile, the PIX data sheet states the length range 550–5000 mm. This belt with Ld 807 mm is in the range 550–3000 mm, where the data sheet states a length tolerance of ±6 mm and a set tolerance of 2 mm. The tolerances are relevant when replacing, especially if several belts are to run in parallel or if the center distance can only be adjusted to a limited extent.

Use for the XPZ profile

If the machine has previously used a regular wrapped V-belt, a timing raw edge type may be interesting for compact drives or when greater flexibility is needed. This does not mean that all belts can be freely replaced. The safe method is to maintain the same profile family, assess the length and ensure that the pulleys are suitable for the specified belt type.

In practice, this type of belt is often used for compact belt drives, smaller pulleys and installations where space around the shafts is limited. However, the belt should not be selected solely based on the machine type. Two machines can use different profiles, even if they look similar from the outside. The correct check is therefore the product name, belt marking, pulley profile and the three length measurements.

Profile and pulley compatibility

XPZ belongs to the same narrow profile family as SPZ, but the belt has its own technical specification with a timing, raw-edge construction. The belt works with side contact in the pulley groove, and the correct groove profile is necessary for the contact surface, friction and load to be distributed correctly. Incorrect cross-section or skewed pulleys can cause overheating, noise, slippage and uneven wear.

The technical identification consists of the combination XPZ, 10x8MM, Ld 807 mm, L 770 mm, Width 820 mm and PIX X'tra®The combination distinguishes the item from nearby V-belts with other profiles, other length standards or a different construction.

Installation and operation

After start-up, it is wise to listen for abnormal noise and feel for abnormal heat when it is safe to do so. Slippage, whining, vibrations or black belt dust may indicate incorrect tension, incorrect profile, worn pulleys or excessive load. The fault should be found before the machine continues to run for a long time.

When installing, the belt should be placed without being twisted or forced over the pulley with a screwdriver or other sharp tool. Instead, adjust the center distance or loosen the relevant tensioning device so that the belt can be installed without damage. After installation, the belt should have the tension that the machine is designed for, because both too loose and too tight a belt can cause problems.

If the belt drive uses multiple belts side by side, the belts should usually be replaced as a set. Belts of different ages or degrees of wear may have different lengths and stiffness, which can distribute the load unevenly. A uniform set provides better opportunity for smooth operation and less risk of one belt pulling more than the others.

The timing underside of the belt reduces bending stiffness and makes the design suitable for belt drives, where the belt must follow the pulleys without unnecessary energy loss. The raw-edge design provides direct side contact with the groove, and the polyester insert contributes to stable length under load. For the XPZ 807, the interaction between profile, length and pulley geometry is therefore central to smooth operation, correct tension and uniform wear over time.

The specified profile angle and the belt cross-section affect how the side surfaces lie in the groove. When the pulleys are aligned correctly, the force can be transmitted more evenly and the timing underside of the belt has better working conditions around the pulleys.

Technical questions about XPZ V-belts

What does XPZ 807 mean on this belt?

XPZ is the profile designation and 807 refers to the effective length Ld in millimeters. For this item, this means that the belt is specified as XPZ profile with dimensions 10x8 MM, Li 770 mm, Ld 807 mm and La 820 mm.

What do Ld, Li and La mean on this V-belt?

Ld is the effective length and is the length stated in the product name. Li is the inside length, and La is the outside length. The three measurements are used to compare belts because manufacturers and older belt markings do not always use the same length designation.

Is the length alone enough to describe the belt?

No. The length is important, but the profile is at least as important. A belt with the correct length but the wrong profile can lie incorrectly in the pulley, causing poor contact, heat, noise and a shorter life.

Why is the belt timing on the inside?

The serration makes the belt more flexible around the pulley and helps with heat dissipation. This is especially relevant for compact belt drives, smaller pulleys and operations where a stiffer wrapped belt can become unnecessarily hot.

Is PIX X'tra® a regular wrapped V-belt?

No. The PIX X'tra® in this series is a moulded raw edge cogged belt. It differs from classic wrapped belts in construction, flexibility and working surface.

When should the belt be replaced?

The belt should be replaced if there are ctiming bars, obvious side surface wear, frayed edges, glazing, squealing, vibrations or repeated retensioning. The pulleys should also be in good condition, as a new belt will wear quickly in damaged grooves.

An incorrect belt specification reduces the risk of unnecessary stops, repeated replacements and troubleshooting after installation. The right combination of profile, length and construction provides better conditions for smooth running, reasonable service life and more stable power transmission in the current belt drive.

The essence: The key data for this XPZ V-belt is: PIX X'tra® series, 10x8 MM, Ld 807 mm, Li 770 mm, La 820 mm, timing underside and raw edge construction. It is relevant after overall match between belt, pulley and drive.
