A belt tension meter, also called a frequency meter, is a measuring tool that can be used if you want to achieve the correct tension when installing new timing belts on your machines.

It is designed to inspect the tension in the drive belt and timing belt by testing the frequency. BRECO® The TSM alpha 2 frequency meter is a device used to check the tension in the drive belt by measuring the frequency. This product offers universal applications for machine construction, in both the automotive industry and other technical machines. The TSM alpha 2 can even be used effortlessly in places that are difficult to reach. BRECO® TSM alpha 2 can be used for V-belts, Poly-v belts and timing belts. It is easy and quick to check whether the pretension is correct.

After starting up, you are immediately ready to test the frequency and are now ready to collect data. After having correctly pre-tensioned the belt, the belt is made to vibrate by striking it with a screwdriver or other object while holding the frequency meter close to the timing belt. The TSM alpha 2 starts recording data and displays the result in Hertz [Hz]. The color and type of the belt have no effect on the measurement, as it is based on an acoustic measurement principle.
