With heated paddles, there are 3 problems that can lead to a faulty splice. Many of these faults are not detectable to the naked eye - there is often no way to spot a faulty splice until it breaks.

1. Improper or inconsistent pressure applied by hand can create uneven welds. Too much pressure and molten material is pushed out to the sides, resulting in a weak connection at the center of the frame ends.
