The correct tension is important for optimal power transmission and for a long life of your belts. For optimal operation of a V-belt drive, the belt tension should be verified by measuring the deflection factor (N) with a tension measuring instrument.
The belt tensioning of most drives can be combined with high reliability by using
PIX-Analog Tension Tester
The most accurate way to manually measure the belt tension on any belt drive, suitable for V-belts, striped belts and timing belts.
Spring loaded tensiometers use a tensioning method based on the principles that the force required to deflect a given span by a given amount is related to the belt tension. This is also known as the tension method and allows for exact tension force values at a given deformation and then the distance measured.
The Large O-Ring measures deflection distance up to 6.5cm or belt span lengths up to 4000mm. Available in three configurations allowing deflection force measurements from 1kg - 45kg. Important that deflection distance and min & max deflection forces are calculated before use. Used with tension values using the "Formula" or "General" method or Carlisle Drive Engineer which can calculate the required deflection distance and min & max tension force values for a specific set of parameters. Provides simple way to measure V-belt tension virtually at any time when the drive is not in use.
