Syncroflex T10 timing belt

Description

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110 – classic PU timing belt with trapezoidal teeth

This T10 timing belt is specified with a pitch length of 1110 mm and 111 teeth. The ratio between length and number of teeth is fixed: 1110 mm divided by 10 mm gives exactly 111 teeth. The Conti Synchroflex T10 1110 is supplied as a cast, endless PU belt, so there is no weld joint in the finished ring. The design is developed for synchronous operation and precise machine movements. This is the standard version in the specified profile. It should not be confused with a possible GEN III version or a double-sided DL belt with the same pitch length.

Dimensions, profile and number of teeth

  • Pitch length: 1110 mm
  • Number of teeth: 111
  • Tooth profile: T10
  • Tooth pitch: 10 mm
  • Material: cast polyurethane with steel cord
  • Brand: Conti Synchroflex

These specifications can be used as a check against the marking on the old belt or against the machine's spare parts list. The pitch length is not necessarily the same as a measurement across the outside of the belt, and the number of teeth is therefore often the safest additional check. If in doubt, both the belt and timing belt pulleys should be examined before ordering a replacement.

Profile, tooth pitch and engagement

As a classic metric profile, the T-series is used in many machines where reliable synchronous movement is important. The tooth shape is trapezoidal, and the number in the profile designation indicates the tooth pitch in millimeters. The correct washer must therefore both have the same pitch and be manufactured for the T-profile. The wrong profile can lead to poor engagement, noise and rapid wear.

Belt construction

Conti Synchroflex is manufactured by casting, where the polyurethane is precisely shaped to the tool's tooth geometry around the embedded steel cord tension elements. The casting process provides high pitch accuracy over the entire circumference of the belt and a strong connection between PU and cord. The finished timing belt is endless and therefore has no welded joints. The polyurethane provides a wear-resistant tooth and back surface, while the steel cord takes the longitudinal tensile load.

The specific product version

This item is a single-sided standard design. The teeth are located on the inside of the belt, while the back is smooth. It should not be confused with a double-sided DL version or the red GEN III series. If the machine is originally dimensioned for a specific variant, a change should only be made after a technical assessment of load, pulleys and preload.

From basic width to desired width

This product line has been created with 6 mm as the base width because this is the width of the selected item and thus the SKU used for inventory control. Integer widths from 6 to 50 mm can be selected on this product page. The widths that appear as standard widths in the supplier data are marked separately in the options. The price surcharge is calculated as a percentage of the base width: doubling the width results in a surcharge of 100%. The technically necessary width should be selected according to the load and not only according to the price.

Where is this profile used?

The application examples in the catalogue include machine tools, main and auxiliary drives, textile machines and printing machines. This shows that the profile can be used in both power transmission and motion control. However, the specific belt must only be finally selected when the machine's torque, speed, center distance and pulley geometry are known. When simply replacing a spare part, the safest method is usually to copy the documented profile, length, design and width.

Profile and length must match

When replacing a spare part, the marking on the existing belt should be compared with the product name. Check the profile designation, pitch length, number of teeth, design and width. If the text on the belt has worn away, the number of teeth can be counted and the pitch can be assessed by measuring over several teeth. A single external length measurement is less reliable because the nominal length of the timing belt is indicated in the pitch line.

Timing belt pulleys and transmission ratios

The pulleys and belt should be considered as a single tooth engagement. Correct T10 geometry ensures that the load is distributed over the tooth flanks rather than concentrated on tooth tips or edges. The drive ratio is selected by the number of teeth on the pulleys, while the belt's 111 teeth and 1110 mm pitch length determine the required combination of pulleys and center distance. When changing the drive, the geometry should be calculated.

Splice, alignment and pre-tensioning

The belt must be able to be placed on the pulleys without force. If it can only be mounted by forcing it over a flange, the center distance or mounting procedure is incorrect. The pulley shafts must be aligned and the flanges must be smooth and undamaged. In the case of multi-shaft or counter-bent drives, the diameter and position of the rollers must be assessed separately. Correct pretensioning reduces the risk of tooth skipping without unnecessarily loading the bearings.

Checking teeth, back and edges

Early damage is often caused by conditions surrounding the belt rather than the material itself. Bent shafts, worn tooth grooves, foreign objects and incorrect pretensioning can all shorten the service life. In the event of a belt break, the pulleys should therefore be cleaned and inspected before the new belt is fitted. Also check whether load conditions or start-stop cycles have changed since the original design.

Operating environment and maintenance

The standard material is specified for ambient temperatures from -30 °C to +80 °C. Applications close to the limits, especially below -10 °C or above +50 °C, may require special sizing. The service life is not only affected by the material, but also by load peaks, bending, pulley size, alignment and environment. Keep the drive clean and do not remove deposits with sharp tools that could damage the teeth. If the belt operates in chemically exposed areas, food environments, clean rooms or at extreme temperatures, a suitable special design should be considered.

Answers to typical questions

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110: can an old V-belt be directly replaced by this timing belt?

No. A timing belt requires timing belt pulleys with the correct profile and pitch, while a V-belt works by friction in V-grooves. A conversion therefore requires new pulleys and a dimensioning of the entire transmission. The product is intended as a timing belt, not as a universal replacement.

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110: can a wider belt always transmit twice as much?

Not necessarily. A larger width provides a more active belt cross-section and can increase the permissible load, but the drive capacity also depends on the profile, number of teeth in mesh, pulley size, speed, load factor and preload. The width should be selected by an overall calculation.

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110: why is 6 mm chosen as the basic width?

6 mm is the width of the supplier item whose SKU is used as the main product's stock reference. Other widths are handled as choices under the same product because they are cut from the same type of timing belt sleeve. The base width also determines the percentage-based pricing in the webshop.

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110: can the belt be used for precise positioning?

The tooth engagement provides a positive, synchronous transmission without the normal slippage of a friction belt. This makes the profile relevant for positioning tasks, but the achievable accuracy also depends on the quality of the pulleys, shaft play, belt pretension, load and the overall machine design.

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110: what is the difference between T10 and a GEN III belt?

This product is the standard version. GEN III is a separate reinforced series with red high-performance PU and denser, two-filament steel cord. The same profile and length therefore do not mean that the products are identical.

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110: why can a timing belt make noise?

Noise can be caused by incorrect pretension, skewed pulleys, poor tooth profile compatibility, excessive speed, resonance or worn tooth grooves. Lubrication is not the solution. First check alignment, tension, pulley condition and whether the belt runs without abnormal side contact.

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110: is the polyurethane oil and chemical resistant?

The standard PU is described as resistant to simple oils, grease and petrol as well as certain acids and bases. This does not mean universal chemical resistance. In the case of continuous contact, high concentrations or cleaning agents, the specific liquid, temperature and exposure time should be assessed.

Conti Synchroflex T10 1110: how best to store a spare timing belt?

Store the belt in a dry, clean place away from direct sunlight, ozone, strong heat or chemical fumes. It should be free from sharp bends and without heavy loads on top. Avoid hanging a small belt over a sharp hook as this can cause local deformation.

Brief summary

The product brings together the specified T10 profile and length on one side, so that the appropriate width can be selected without creating a separate item for each cut. The main technical data is 1110 mm pitch length and 111 teeth. If in doubt about load or pulley compatibility, the drive should be calculated before ordering the belt.
