Syncroflex T10 timing belt

Description

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100 – durable PU timing belt for standardized timing belt drives

The Conti Synchroflex T10 3100 is an endless, cast polyurethane timing belt with 310 teeth, 10 mm tooth pitch and a pitch length of 3100 mm. It is intended for synchronous power transmission, where the driving and driven shafts must follow a fixed tooth ratio without the slippage known from friction-based belt drives. The pitch length is the nominal length measurement in the belt's cord line and is therefore the measurement that must be compared with the existing belt, the machine's spare parts data and the installed timing belt pulleys. This is the standard version in the specified profile. It must not be confused with a possible GEN III version or a double-sided DL belt with the same pitch length.

Key technical data

  • Pitch length: 3100 mm
  • Number of teeth: 310
  • Tooth profile: T10
  • Tooth pitch: 10 mm
  • Material: cast polyurethane with steel cord
  • Brand: Conti Synchroflex

These specifications can be used as a check against the marking on the old belt or against the machine's spare parts list. The pitch length is not necessarily the same as a measurement across the outside of the belt, and the number of teeth is therefore often the safest additional check. If in doubt, both the belt and timing belt pulleys should be examined before ordering a replacement.

Profile, tooth pitch and engagement

The T-profile is the classic metric timing belt profile with trapezoidal teeth and is described as a standard profile according to DIN 7721. It is used for general synchronous drives, positioning tasks and solutions with significant bending. The simple and proven geometry of the profile makes it widely used, but it still needs to be matched with a T-disc with the same tooth pitch. AT, HTD and other profiles are not automatically interchangeable.

How the Conti Synchroflex belt is constructed

Conti Synchroflex is manufactured by casting, where the polyurethane is precisely shaped to the tool's tooth geometry around the embedded steel cord tension elements. The casting process provides high pitch accuracy over the entire circumference of the belt and a strong connection between PU and cord. The finished timing belt is endless and therefore has no welded joints. The polyurethane provides a wear-resistant tooth and back surface, while the steel cord takes the longitudinal tensile load.

What does the version designation mean?

The product is the regular Conti Synchroflex standard version in the specified profile. Standard and GEN III may have the same pitch length and number of teeth, but they are different product series with different material construction and capacity data. The same applies to a DL belt, which has teeth on both sides. When reordering, the entire profile designation should therefore be checked, not just the length.

Width selection and price calculation

The basic price applies to 6 mm, and the other widths are calculated with the same percentage logic as the existing PU timing belts in the webshop. Integer widths from 6 to 50 mm can be selected on this product page. A width of twice the basic width therefore costs 100% more, while a width of one and a half times the basic width gives approximately 50% extra. This price rule is a webshop calculation; it does not replace a technical dimensioning of the belt's load-bearing capacity.

Typical applications and sizing

The profile series is used in practice for tasks such as machine tools, main and auxiliary drives, textile machines and printing machines. Common to these machines is the need for a fixed transmission ratio and controlled tooth engagement. A timing belt can transmit both force and position, but the capacity cannot be assessed based on length alone. Width, profile version, wrap angle and load cycle are among the data that must be included in the selection.

Profile and length must match

The product's 310 teeth provide a convenient length check. Multiplying the number of teeth by 10 mm gives a pitch length of 3100 mm. If an existing belt has a different number of teeth, it is not the same size, even though it may look almost the same length. Also check that the teeth on the pulleys match T10; the same pitch number alone is not always sufficient.

Timing belt pulleys and transmission ratios

The pulleys and belt should be considered as a single tooth engagement. Correct T10 geometry ensures that the load is distributed over the tooth flanks rather than concentrated on tooth tips or edges. The drive ratio is selected by the number of teeth on the pulleys, while the belt's 310 teeth and 3100 mm pitch length determine the required combination of pulleys and center distance. When changing the drive, the geometry should be calculated.

Splice, alignment and pre-tensioning

The belt must be able to be placed on the pulleys without force. If it can only be mounted by forcing it over a flange, the center distance or mounting procedure is incorrect. The pulley shafts must be aligned and the flanges must be smooth and undamaged. In the case of multi-shaft or counter-bent drives, the diameter and position of the rollers must be assessed separately. Correct pretensioning reduces the risk of tooth skipping without unnecessarily loading the bearings.

Signs of improper operation

A properly running timing belt should move smoothly without continuous contact against one flange. Regularly check the teeth for deformation, the back for ctiming bars and the edges for frayed areas. Abnormal noise or heat can be an early sign of incorrect tension or pulley failure. A systematic check of pulleys and belt is more effective than trying to hide symptoms with lubricant.

Maintenance-free does not mean control-free

The standard material is specified for ambient temperatures from -30 °C to +80 °C. Applications close to the limits, especially below -10 °C or above +50 °C, may require special sizing. The molded PU belt is maintenance-friendly and does not require lubricant. Regular visual inspection is still relevant: look for ctiming bars, frayed edges, shiny tooth flanks, foreign body impressions and abnormal side contact. Sudden changes in noise or grooveing may indicate misalignment, too low tension or worn pulleys.

Questions and answers about this timing belt

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100: does the number of teeth change when the belt width is changed?

No. All width choices on this product page have the same pitch length of 3100 mm and the same number of teeth of 310. Only the width of the belt, and thus the price and possible load capacity, changes. The width must still match the pulleys and the technical dimensioning.

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100: what does the pitch length of 3100 mm mean?

The pitch length is the nominal length measured in the belt cord line where the steel cord tension members are located. It is not the same as a random outside circumference measurement. For this belt, a pitch length of 3100 mm corresponds to 310 teeth with a 10 mm pitch.

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100: what is the difference between T10 and a GEN III belt?

This product is the standard version. GEN III is a separate reinforced series with red high-performance PU and denser, two-filament steel cord. The same profile and length therefore do not mean that the products are identical.

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100: can a wider belt always transmit twice as much?

Not necessarily. A larger width provides a more active belt cross-section and can increase the permissible load, but the drive capacity also depends on the profile, number of teeth in mesh, pulley size, speed, load factor and preload. The width should be selected by an overall calculation.

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100: what should be checked after the first run-in?

Check that the belt runs centrally, that there is no abnormal heat or noise, and that the edges are not constantly rubbing against the flanges. Also look for signs of too low or too high pretension. If the drive requires a re-tension check, the machine manufacturer's procedure must be followed.

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100: does this PU timing belt need to be lubricated?

No. The timing belt is designed for lubrication-free operation. Oil or grease should not be added to reduce noise as this may mask an alignment, pretension or worn pulley problem. Instead, keep the tooth mesh clean and check the cause of any abnormal noise.

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100: why is the number of teeth important for spare parts?

The number of teeth links the pitch of the profile to the nominal length of the belt. For this size, 310 teeth at 10 mm pitch gives a length of 3100 mm. It is a simple check that often reveals faults that are not visible by a quick comparison of two loose belts.

Brief summary

Conti Synchroflex T10 3100 is the correct size when the drive requires T10, 3100 mm pitch length and 310 teeth. The belt is cast endless in PU with steel cord and must be used with timing belt pulleys that match the profile. Choose the width according to the technical load and always check the design, alignment and pretension before commissioning.
