Description

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360 – compact timing belt for precise motion transmission

With 136 teeth spread over a pitch length of 1360 mm, the Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360 is designed for precise transmission of rotation, timing and position. The belt is cast endlessly in PU and has integrated steel cord tension elements that stabilize the length during normal operation. The nominal tooth pitch is 10 mm and the tooth profile must match the profile of the pulleys exactly. It is not sufficient for another belt to have approximately the same length or width. This is the standard version in the specified profile. It must not be confused with a possible GEN III version or a double-sided DL belt with the same pitch length.

Dimensions, profile and number of teeth

  • Pitch length: 1360 mm
  • Number of teeth: 136
  • Tooth profile: AT10
  • Tooth pitch: 10 mm
  • Material: cast polyurethane with steel cord
  • Brand: Conti Synchroflex

These specifications can be used as a check against the marking on the old belt or against the machine's spare parts list. The pitch length is not necessarily the same as a measurement across the outside of the belt, and the number of teeth is therefore often the safest additional check. If in doubt, both the belt and timing belt pulleys should be examined before ordering a replacement.

What characterizes the AT10 profile?

In a synchronous belt drive, the movement is transmitted through the tooth flanks. The geometry of the AT profile is therefore crucial for both load distribution, noise level and position accuracy. A correct AT pulley supports the teeth according to the profile to which they are cast. If the pulley's tooth shape or pitch deviates, the load can be concentrated at a few pu and cause abnormal wear, even though the belt can apparently be mounted.

PU body and longitudinally stable traction elements

The endless PU construction combines low dead weight with high longitudinal rigidity. The steel cord tension elements are cast into the belt and are not intended to be exposed, damaged or sharply broken during installation. The wear resistance of the polyurethane and the strong bond to the cord are central to the belt's lifespan. Correct handling is therefore just as important as the correct choice of profile and length.

The specific product version

This item is a single-sided standard design. The teeth are located on the inside of the belt, while the back is smooth. It should not be confused with a double-sided DL version or the red GEN III series. If the machine is originally dimensioned for a specific variant, a change should only be made after a technical assessment of load, pulleys and preload.

Profile and length must match

When replacing a spare part, the marking on the existing belt should be compared with the product name. Check the profile designation, pitch length, number of teeth, design and width. If the text on the belt has worn away, the number of teeth can be counted and the pitch can be assessed by measuring over several teeth. A single external length measurement is less reliable because the nominal length of the timing belt is indicated in the pitch line.

Areas of application

The application examples in the catalogue include construction machinery, pu , paper machines, compressors, compactors, textile machines and roller conveyor drives. This shows that the profile can be used in both power transmission and motion control. However, the specific belt must only be finally selected when the machine's torque, speed, center distance and pulley geometry are known. When simply replacing spare parts, the safest method is usually to copy the documented profile, length, design and width.

The belt width is selected on the product page

This product line has been created with 16 mm as the base width because this is the width of the selected item and thus the SKU used for inventory control. Integer widths from 16 to 50 mm can be selected on this product page. The widths that appear as standard widths in the supplier data are marked separately in the options. The price surcharge is calculated as a percentage of the base width: doubling the width results in a surcharge of 100%. The technically necessary width should be selected according to the load and not only according to the price.

Timing belt pulleys and transmission ratios

The pulleys and belt should be considered as a single tooth engagement. Correct AT10 geometry ensures that the load is distributed over the tooth flanks rather than concentrated on tooth tips or edges. The drive ratio is selected by the number of teeth on the pulleys, while the belt's 136 teeth and 1360 mm pitch length determine the required combination of pulleys and center distance. When changing the drive, the geometry should be calculated.

Splice, alignment and pre-tensioning

The timing belt pulleys must be parallel and in the same plane. Even minor misalignments can cause the belt to move towards a flange and cause edge or cord damage. The belt should be installed without being twisted, sharply bent or pressed over a flange with a tool. The center distance is adjusted to achieve the calculated preload. Too high a tension increases the bearing and cord load, while too low a tension can cause tooth jumps at load peaks.

Operating environment and maintenance

The standard material is specified for ambient temperatures from -30 °C to +80 °C. Applications close to the limits, especially below -10 °C or above +50 °C, may require special dimensioning. The timing belt operates without lubrication, and oil or grease should therefore not be added to dampen noise. The polyurethane is described as resistant to aging as well as simple oils, grease and petrol and to certain acids and bases. In the case of permanent contact, cleaning chemicals or unknown media, material compatibility should be specifically clarified.

Signs of improper operation

Early damage is often caused by conditions surrounding the belt rather than the material itself. Bent shafts, worn tooth grooves, foreign objects and incorrect pretensioning can all shorten the service life. In the event of a belt break, the pulleys should therefore be cleaned and inspected before the new belt is fitted. Also check whether load conditions or start-stop cycles have changed since the original design.

Answers to typical questions

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360: is the polyurethane oil and chemical resistant?

The standard PU is described as resistant to simple oils, grease and petrol as well as certain acids and bases. This does not mean universal chemical resistance. In the case of continuous contact, high concentrations or cleaning agents, the specific liquid, temperature and exposure time should be assessed.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360: can the width be measured with a regular caliper?

Yes, the belt width can usually be measured directly on the flat back or between clean, undamaged edges. However, the width is only one part of the identification. The profile, pitch length, number of teeth and any DL or GEN III version must also be correct.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360: can the belt be shortened or assembled to a different length?

No. This is a cast endless timing belt with a fixed pitch length. It can be cut to width within the available options, but the circumference and number of teeth cannot be changed. If the length needs to be changed, a different cast belt size is required.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360: why is 16 mm chosen as the basic width?

16 mm is the width of the supplier item whose SKU is used as the main product's stock reference. Other widths are handled as choices under the same product because they are cut from the same type of timing belt sleeve. The base width also determines the percentage-based pricing in the webshop.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360: what temperature can the belt work at?

The standard version is specified for ambient temperatures from -30 °C to +80 °C. At temperatures below -10 °C or above +50 °C, adapted sizing may be required.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360: what is the difference between tooth pitch and pitch length?

The tooth pitch is the distance from one tooth to the next and is 10 mm for this profile. The pitch length is the entire nominal circumference in the cord line and is 1360 mm. When the pitch length is divided by the tooth pitch, the belt has 136 teeth.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360: what does the pitch length of 1360 mm mean?

The pitch length is the nominal length measured in the belt cord line where the steel cord tension elements are located. It is not the same as a random outer circumference measurement. For this belt, 1360 mm pitch length corresponds to 136 teeth with 10 mm tooth pitch.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 1360: when should the timing belt pulleys be replaced?

Pulleys should be evaluated if the tooth grooves are worn, sharp, crooked or damaged. A new belt on worn pulleys may have poor load distribution and short life. Also check flanges for bars and side contact and the grooves for foreign objects.

Conclusion

The product brings together the specified AT10 profile and length on one side, so that the appropriate width can be selected without creating a separate item for each cut. The main technical data is 1360 mm pitch length and 136 teeth. If in doubt about load or pulley compatibility, the drive should be calculated before ordering the belt.
