Description

Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100 – dimensionally stable PU timing belt for positioning and transmission

This AT10 GEN III timing belt is specified with a pitch length of 1100 mm and 110 teeth. The ratio between length and number of teeth is fixed: 1100 mm divided by 10 mm gives exactly 110 teeth. The Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100 is supplied as a cast, endless PU belt, so that there is no weld joint in the finished ring. The design is developed for synchronous operation and precise machine movements. The GEN III version is the reinforced high-performance design with red high-performance polyurethane and denser, two-filament steel cord. It should therefore be treated as a separate product series and not as the regular standard version.

Key technical data

  • Pitch length: 1100 mm
  • Number of teeth: 110
  • Tooth profile: AT10 GEN III
  • Tooth pitch: 10 mm
  • Material: cast polyurethane with steel cord
  • Brand: Conti Synchroflex

These specifications can be used as a check against the marking on the old belt or against the machine's spare parts list. The pitch length is not necessarily the same as a measurement across the outside of the belt, and the number of teeth is therefore often the safest additional check. If in doubt, both the belt and timing belt pulleys should be examined before ordering a replacement.

How tooth geometry works

The metric AT geometry has trapezoidal teeth with a larger tooth volume than the standard T profile. The purpose is to distribute the load advantageously in the tooth mesh and achieve higher tooth strength without making the drive unnecessarily large. The profile requires suitable AT timing belt pulleys with the same pitch; a visual similarity to other profiles is not evidence of compatibility.

Materials and endless manufacturing

Conti Synchroflex is manufactured by casting, where the polyurethane is precisely shaped to the tool's tooth geometry around the embedded steel cord tension elements. The casting process provides high pitch accuracy over the entire circumference of the belt and a strong connection between PU and cord. The finished timing belt is endless and therefore has no welded joints. The polyurethane provides a wear-resistant tooth and back surface, while the steel cord takes the longitudinal tensile load.

What does the version designation mean?

In the GEN III series, both the polyurethane and the tension body are optimized for higher performance. The tighter cord packing can increase the permissible tensile load, and the balanced two-filament construction is designed to reduce flange friction and improve belt running. Continental states that existing standard AT or ATP pulleys can be used with the corresponding GEN III profile. However, the remaining dimensioning of the drive still needs to be checked.

Typical applications and sizing

The profile series is used in practice for tasks such as construction machinery, pu , paper machines, compressors, compactors, textile machines and roller conveyor drives. Common to these machines is the need for a fixed transmission ratio and controlled tooth engagement. A timing belt can transmit both force and position, but the capacity cannot be assessed based on length alone. Width, profile version, wrap angle and load cycle are among the data that must be included in the selection.

Timing belt pulleys and transmission ratios

A belt of the correct length can still function poorly if the pulleys have the wrong profile, are worn or are misaligned. Therefore, check the tooth grooves, flanges, shaft alignment and the number of teeth on the pulleys. For AT10 GEN III, the nominal tooth pitch is 10 mm. The fixed tooth mesh makes the gear ratio reproducible, but only when the belt has sufficient wrap and does not run with constant side pressure.

Correct splice in the timing belt tensioner

When installing, the cord pullers must be protected against kinks and local pressure damage. The belt must not be pinched with pliers or a screwdriver, and it should not be folded sharply. Check that the pulleys have the same pitch and profile as the belt and that they are not worn out. A stable drive is achieved through the right combination of alignment, wrapping and calculated pretension.

From basic width to desired width

The belt width is not written in the product name because the same pitch length is collected on one product page. The starting pu is 16 mm. Integer widths from 16 to 50 mm can be selected on this product page. The original supplier widths for this length are 16, 20, 25, 32 and 50 mm. Other intermediate sizes are offered as cut-to-sizes of the same type of timing belt sleeve when they are within the selection shown. The number of teeth, pitch length and profile do not change when the width is changed.

What does belt wear indicate?

A properly running timing belt should move smoothly without continuous contact against one flange. Regularly check the teeth for deformation, the back for ctiming bars and the edges for frayed areas. Abnormal noise or heat can be an early sign of incorrect tension or pulley failure. A systematic check of pulleys and belt is more effective than trying to hide symptoms with lubricant.

Operating environment and maintenance

Continental specifies a temperature range of up to +100 °C for the GEN III series. When operating close to the temperature limits, the drive must still be dimensioned according to the specific load and environmental conditions. The service life is not only affected by the material, but also by load peaks, bending, pulley size, alignment and surroundings. Keep the drive clean and do not remove deposits with sharp tools that could damage the teeth. If the belt is operating in chemically exposed areas, food environments, clean rooms or at extreme temperatures, a suitable special design should be considered.

Checking when replacing

When replacing a spare part, the marking on the existing belt should be compared with the product name. Check the profile designation, pitch length, number of teeth, design and width. If the text on the belt has worn away, the number of teeth can be counted and the pitch can be assessed by measuring over several teeth. A single external length measurement is less reliable because the nominal length of the timing belt is indicated in the pitch line.

Frequently Asked Questions

Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100: what is the difference between tooth pitch and pitch length?

The tooth pitch is the distance from one tooth to the next and is 10 mm for this profile. The pitch length is the entire nominal circumference in the cord line and is 1100 mm. When the pitch length is divided by the tooth pitch, the belt has 110 teeth.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100: does the number of teeth change when the belt width is changed?

No. All width choices on this product page have the same pitch length of 1100 mm and the same number of teeth of 110. Only the width of the belt, and thus the price and possible load capacity, changes. The width must still match the pulleys and the technical dimensioning.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100: how to best store a spare timing belt?

Store the belt in a dry, clean place away from direct sunlight, ozone, strong heat or chemical fumes. It should be free from sharp bends and without heavy loads on top. Avoid hanging a small belt over a sharp hook as this can cause local deformation.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100: does this PU timing belt need to be lubricated?

No. The timing belt is designed for lubrication-free operation. Oil or grease should not be added to reduce noise as this may mask an alignment, pretension or worn pulley problem. Instead, keep the tooth mesh clean and check the cause of any abnormal noise.

How many teeth does the Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100 have?

The belt has 110 teeth. The number of teeth is calculated by dividing the pitch length of 1100 mm by the tooth pitch of 10 mm. The result is 110, and this number can be used as an additional check when identifying an existing belt. A different number of teeth means a different pitch length.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100: why is 16 mm chosen as the basic width?

16 mm is the width of the supplier item whose SKU is used as the main product's stock reference. Other widths are handled as choices under the same product because they are cut from the same type of timing belt sleeve. The base width also determines the percentage-based pricing in the webshop.

Conti Synchroflex AT10 GEN III 1100: is the polyurethane oil and chemical resistant?

The standard PU is described as resistant to simple oils, grease and petrol as well as certain acids and bases. This does not mean universal chemical resistance. In the case of continuous contact, high concentrations or cleaning agents, the specific liquid, temperature and exposure time should be assessed.

The product in brief

The product brings together the specified AT10 GEN III profile and length on one side, so that the appropriate width can be selected without creating a separate item for each cut. The main technical data is 1100 mm pitch length and 110 teeth. If in doubt about load or pulley compatibility, the drive should be calculated before ordering the belt.
